KKR former captain will enter Punjab Kings for IPL 2023

Indian Premier League’s next season (IPL 2023) preparation starts already, all franchise are busy to make their strong squad. In recent development some report says that Kolkata Knight Riders KKR former captain will enter Punjab Kings for IPL 2023. Punjab Kings coach Anil Kumble could be sacked by the franchise ahead of Indian Premier League’s next season (IPL 2023), says a report.

Anil Kumble was appointed as the coach of the Punjab Kings at the start of the 2020 season. He has been coach of the side for 42 games out of which PK have won just 19. It is also to be noted that Punjab Kings have seen change of captaincy in between, while KL Rahul led the side in 2020 and 2021, in 2022, Mayank Agarwal was named as the captain.

After 2022, his three-year contract has come to an end and reports suggest that Mohali franchise is not looking forward to renew it and is already on lookout for a new coach. The names that are doing the rounds are of KKR former captain Eoin Morgan and Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Trevor Bayliss.

Among the list of potential candidates are former England captain Eoin Morgan and World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss. As per a Cricbuzz report, Punjab Kings are on the lookout for a new coach ahead of the IPL 2023 season. Punjab have not made it to the playoffs since 2014 and finished outside the playoff places once again last year. Current head coach Anil Kumble’s contract expires in September and the franchise is not expected to renew his three-year deal.

PBKS have already begun its search for its new coach with more than six months left for IPL 2023. The franchise are reportedly are in talks with Eoin Morgan, Trevor Bayliss and one former India coach. It is believed that one of the trio will get the posting and a decision on the same in a week’s time.

Morgan recently announced his retirement from international cricket after a glittering career. The Irish-born left-hander led a white ball revolution in England, which culminated in their 2019 World Cup win. Morgan was also the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2021 when they reached the final.
