The mega auction is scheduled to be held on February 12 & 13 in Bengaluru. BCCI Friday released 1214 players list for IPL mega auction. The list was sent to the ten franchises involved in the IPL. IN recent development some reports say that Kannadiga Devdutt Padikkal captain for IPL 2022. Virat Kohli has also faced criticisms for failing to lead RCB to an IPL trophy.

While other skippers like MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings), Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians), and Gautam Gambhir (Delhi Capitals) have clinched the IPL trophy multiple times, Virat Kohli-led RCB have struggled to become IPL champions even once. If the second phase of IPL 2021 takes place later this year and RCB once again fails to lift the trophy, Virat Kohli’s leadership will get under scrutiny.

The franchise might replace Kohli as the skipper in IPL 2022 or Kohli might himself take the responsibility for the team’s failure and step down as a skipper. In such a scenario, the franchisee will need a strong player to lead the team in IPL 2022. Look at player like Devdutt Padikkal from Royal Challengers Bangalore who have the potential of replacing Virat Kohli as the RCB captain in IPL 2022.

Karnataka player Kannadiga Devdutt Padikkal joined Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020 which was his debut season in the tournament too. The 20-year-old batsman has become a promising player for the franchise in a short time. In IPL 2020, Devdutt Padikkal was the highest run-getter for Royal Challengers Bangalore with 473 runs in 15 matches.

He also smashed 5 half-centuries in the tournament and was awarded emerging player of the year for his spectacular batting. In IPL 2021, the left-handed batsman Padikkal earned the spotlight after smashing a century (101) against Rajasthan Royals. So far, he has scored 668 runs in 21 matches in IPL at a strike rate of 131+. Padikkal has also emerged as a strong opener for the team with his aggressive batting style. Padikkal is former RCB player who has the potential to lead the team in IPL 2022.

Royal Challengers Bangalore not retained Devdutt Padikkal, they have chosen to stick with Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj. Now RCB are left with 57 cr for IPl 2022 mega auction. Surprisingly, the RCB team management have not picked Yuzvendra Chahal and the purple cap holder of last season Harshal Patel.

The first precursor to IPL 2022 has been ticked and the eight franchises have announced their list of retained players. The teams notified their list of retained players during the IPL 2022 Retention List that happened on November 30 in India. Of a total of allotted 90 crore purse to each franchisee, each team retained their decided players in accordance with the retention rule framework.
