IPL 2024: RCB appointed Zimbabwe former player as Head Coach

All teams have already started preparing for the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. The mega auction held for IPL 2023 did not work for some franchises. In between IPL 2024: RCB appointed Zimbabwe former player as Head Coach.

Recently the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise took an important decision ahead of IPL 2024. RCB’s head coach Sanjay Bangar and team director Mike Hesson were dropped and gave a big shock to plans. After this, the RCB franchise was looking for a new coach. Now it is said that a new coach has been selected for the Bangalore franchise.

Cricbuzz reported that former Zimbabwe player Andy Flower is the new coach of RCB. The RCB franchisee needs to provide more definite information about this. However, it is said that AB de Villiers, who has contributed significantly to the success of the RCB franchise, will also work with Andy Flower as a mentor.

Andy Flower’s two-year contract with Lucknow Super Giants has expired after IPL 2023. Therefore, RCB has now selected him as the head coach of the franchise team. Andy Flower has experience working with global level T20 teams like CPL (2020), PSL (2021), ILT20 (2023).

He also advised the coaching staff of the Australian team during the just concluded Ashes series. Andy Flower, who played for Zimbabwe in the 90s, played 63 Tests and 213 ODIs. He has scored 4794 runs in Tests and 6786 runs in ODIs. He has contributed immensely to the Zimbabwean team.
