Madhya Pradesh pipped Chandigarh by five runs in a high-scoring group D thriller of the Vijay Hazare Trophy National One-dayers in Rajkot on Sunday (December 12). Venkatesh, who is seen as a India prospect to fill in the Hardik Pandya slot across white-ball formats, blazed his way to a 113-ball 151 (8×4, 10×6) to power Madhya Pradesh to a challenging 331/9.

What caught everyone’s eyes was Kolkata Knight Riders Venkatesh Iyer iconic celebration dedicated to popular actor Rajnikanth, who turned 71 on Sunday. A video of Iyer trying to imitate the superstar’s move was shared by BCCI and his Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.

Chandigarh responded in style with centuries from skipper Manan Vohra (105) and Ankit Kaushik (111) and needed 32 runs from the last 12 balls. Bowling the penultimate over, Venkatesh Iyer gave another breakthrough dismissing Gurinder Singh en route to his 2/64 from 10 overs that included a maiden as Chandigarh could only manage 326/8.

IPL 2022 Kolkata Knight Riders KKR Team mega auction count down starts. All 8 franchise announced their Retained players. Reports says Two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders team plan to take three big players like Ajinkya Rahane Captain, Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis. Two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders retained four players ahead of the IPL 2022 auction.

All-rounders Andre Russell and Sunil Narine were retained while Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy will also feature for KKR team in IPL 2022. Shubman Gill, Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik were not retained by Kolkata Knight Riders. Ajinkya Rahane only entered the IPL auction for the first time in 2018.

Since the uncapped players were only included in the IPL auction for the first time in 2014, Rahane spent his stint at Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals without being bought in the auction. The former RR skipper joined DC via trade before IPL 2020 and stayed there for the next 2 seasons. In 2022, it will be the 2nd time when Rahane will enter the IPL auction and Kolkata Knight Riders ready to made him captain for new two season.
