IPL 2020: We Are Trying Our Best to Adjust to New Norms- Mayank Agarwal

Dubai: Kings XI Punjab Mayank Agarwal has started practice sessions with the team in Dubai ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) scheduled to begin from 19th September. As this time the tournament has additional safety norms to be followed amid the pandemic, Agarwal opines that his team members are trying their best to adjust to new rules

The Indian cricketer was grateful for getting an opportunity to play the tournament in the testing situation. He opines that it is going to be different tournaments from the past because of the pandemic. But the batsman is happy to follow all the safety protocols.

“It is obviously very, very good. We are all grateful that we get the chance to be outdoors and do what we love.”[It is a] very new [and] very different challenge but we are all trying to do our best and trying to adjust to the new rules and the new views, and quite happy to follow whatever rules are in place because [at] the end of the day, we want to play cricket and we want to play this tournament.”

KXIP players landed in the UAE last week. Following BCCI’s protocol, the franchise went under a mandatory quarantine period and after clearing all tests, they started the three weeks training earlier this week.

The Punjab based franchise has also hired the former Indian spinner, Anil Kumble, as the director of cricket for the tournament. It would be interesting to see how KXIP performs under a new captain KL Rahul and mentor Anil Kumble.
