ICC WTC Final: Rohit Sharma To Replace Virat Kohli As India Captain! Check Details

Former Chief Selector Kiran More recently gave his opinion on ‘Split-Captaincy’ and said that it can work well for Team India. More also hinted that Virat may hand over the captaincy of limited-over formats to Rohit after the England series. Team India captain Virat Kohli has done exceedingly well in the last few years as a leader of the national side across the three formats of the game.

However, the only chink left in his armory is winning an ICC trophy as the captain of the Indian team and he will have a golden opportunity of lifting his maiden title during the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand scheduled to start from June 18 in Southampton.

While on the other hand, former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Kiran More feels Virat could be sharing the captaincy role with Rohit Sharma across the different formats in future. Most of the teams like England, Australia, South Africa have adopted the model of split-captaincy in international cricket and with Rohit Sharma’s stunning IPL record of being the most successful captain having won 5 titles.

Kiran More believes that the Mumbai Indians skipper will soon get his deserved chance for the captaincy role in the national team as well. The current India captain Virat Kohli has also played for a long time under the captaincy of MS Dhoni even when the former was leading the Test team.
