In fact India has not yet played or hosted a single FIFA World Cup match. But Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is confident that one day India will host and participate in FIFA World Cup in future. Addressing a public meeting in Shillong, Modi expressed confidence in this regard. India has hosted two Under-17 FIFA World Cups so far. India hosted the Boys’ FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2018, while the Girls’ U-17 World Cup was hosted this year.

Addressing a rally in Shillong on Sunday, Modi said, “I want to tell Shillong today that even though our eyes are on the World Cup in Qatar, there are foreign teams on the field. But I have full faith in our youth power. So I can say with complete confidence that the day when we in India will celebrate the same and cheer the tricolor flag is not far away.

World Cup for Argentina

The FIFA World Cup in Qatar concluded on Sunday. Argentina beat France in a thrilling match to become world champions for the third time and end their 36-year World Cup winning drought. Argentina scored two goals in the first half to take the lead. After this, Mbappe leveled the score by scoring in the 80th and 81st minutes. Thus the match went to extra time. While Messi scored a goal, Mbappe also converted a penalty to level the score at 3-3. Finally, Argentina won in the penalty shootout.
