Chris Gayle finally revealed reason why did not want to play in IPL 2022

IPL king universe boss Chris Gayle is surely among the T20 great batsman in world. And has set the IPL alight on many occasions with many a brilliant knock. Royal Challengers Bangalore former player Chris Gayle finally revealed reason why did not want to play in IPL 2022.

Not to forget, Chris Gayle still owns the highest individual score in the season when he smashed 175 not out vs Pune Warriors. Chris Gayle played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings in IPL.

Chris Gayle was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2009 and in his two year stint he scored 463 runs in 16 innings with two half-centuries. His most memorable time came at the Royal Challengers Bangalore who signed him in 2011.

Chris Gayle played 84 innings for the franchise scoring 3163 runs at 43.3 and a strike rate of 152.7 with five centuries and 19 fifties. In 2018, after going unsold twice at the auction, he was picked by Punjab Kings for INR 2 crore. He scored 1339 runs for the team in 41 games.

Before IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Chris Gayle did not send his name in the pool and that surprised many as the West Indian batsman is still active in franchise cricket. And now Gayle has revealed the reason why he did not want to play in IPL 2022.

Chris Gayle said that the reason for him not playing in the ongoing season is because he does not get respect from the league anymore. “For the last couple of years, the way the IPL went about, I felt like I wasn’t treated properly,” Gayle was quoted as saying by The Mirror.

“So I thought ‘okay, you (Gayle) didn’t get the respect you deserved after you did so much for the sport and IPL.’ So I said ‘okay, that’s it, I’m not going to bother to enter the draft,’ so I left it as it is. There is always going to be life after cricket so I’m just trying to adapt to normality.”
