On February 14, an Indian TV news channel released video footage of Chetan Sharma talking about various matters relating to the national team, including alleged issues between Virat Kohli and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, and Jasprit Bumrah’s injury. It appears that Chetan Sharma did not know he was being filmed clandestinely at the time.

Chetan Sharma was reinstated as chief selector only in January, after the BCCI had removed the entire selection panel in November following India’s semi-final defeat from the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, and invited fresh applications. Chetan Sharma continued to function in his role until the new panel was appointed, with him once again as chairman.

Chetan Sharma’s exit leaves India’s selection panel comprising Salil Ankola, SS Das, Subroto Banerjee and S Sharath, with the BCCI yet to appoint a new chairman.”BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma resigns from his post. The former India pacer came under fire on Tuesday after he allegedly revealed classified selection matters during a sting operation, conducted by Zee News. Chetan Sharma, who was recently reinstated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India after being removed following India’s dismal showing in the T20 World Cup in Australia, was seen during the sting operation casting aspersions on players like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

He also allegedly revealed his internal discussions with Head Coach Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli.He alleged that a lot of players take injections to expedite their return to competitive cricket despite being only 80 to 85 per cent fit.Chetan Sharma also claimed that there was an ego tussle between former captain Virat Kohli and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.
