Babar Azam will break another world record in ODI Cricket

There’s no stopping Pakistan captain Babar Azam. He is breaking world records for fun this year. In the first ODI against Netherlands on last August, Babar Azam broke South Africa great Hashim Amla’s record for the most runs in ODIs after 88 innings. Babar Azam will break another world record in ODI Cricket.

Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam needs to score only 73 more runs in his next five innings to break South African great Hashim Amla’s record of being the fastest to 5,000 runs in ODI cricket. Amla had set the record in 101 innings during the course of his prolific career. Today he face New Zealand in the third ODI of the five-match series today (Wednesday) in Karachi.

Fakhar Zaman has emerged as a challenger to Babar Azam`s dominance in the ODI rankings after his recent performances against New Zealand in the five-match ODI series. Fakhar has commenced Pakistan`s ongoing ODI series at home against New Zealand in a blaze of glory, with the 33-year-old scoring back-to-back centuries to put his side in control of the five-match series.

Pakistan lead the five-match ODI series 2-0 after winning the first two fixtures in comprehensive manner. If the Pakistan win the ongoing ODI series, it will be their first against the Black Caps since 2011. Pakistan have won five of the seven ODI series that Azam has captained. His two losses came against England in 2021 and New Zealand in January this year.
