Asia Cup 2023: The countdown to the much awaited Asia Cup 2023 tournament has begun. This important tournament will start on August 30. However, only the Indian team for the Asia Cup has not been announced yet. Asia Cup 2023: KL Rahul fit, Shreyas Iyer doubtful for Team India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has not named the Team India players. Team India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2023 edition is set to be picked on August 21 with captain Rohit Sharma expected to attend the meeting in New Delhi. Reports from New18 CricketNext suggests that KL Rahul is fit and available for selection with positive hopes of Shreyas Iyer expected to return in the team as well.

India is fretting over the fitness of three of their star players in Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer. While Bumrah, who underwent surgery for a stress fracture in his back earlier this year, is all set to lead India in a 3-match T20I series in Ireland from August 18, the likes of Rahul and Iyer have only been playing simulation matches at the National Cricket Academy.

It remains to be seen if India will take the punt with Rahul and Iyer as their backups Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson have not grabbed their chances well. Suryakumar has had an extremely ordinary run in ODIs despite being the No. 1 batter in T20I cricket, having not scored a fifty-plus score in his last 17 innings.

India has tried Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav in the positions of Iyer and Rahul but both have failed to make an impression so far. At least 14 names are much guaranteed to be on the squad list for the multi-nation event, with the decision likely to be made on an extra spinner or an extra batter.
