Asia Cup 2023: I have no hesitation in going to Pakistan- Roger Binny

After arriving at Amritsar Airport in Punjab, Roger Binny and Rajeev Shukla traveled to Pakistan via the Attari-Wagha border. BCCI President-Vice President was welcomed by Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Roger Binny and Vice President Rajiv Shukla left for Pakistan on Monday (September 4). BCCI president and vice president visited Pakistan on special invitation given by Pakistan Cricket Board for Asia Cup 2023 tournament.

After arriving at Amritsar Airport in Punjab, Roger Binny and Rajeev Shukla traveled to Pakistan via the Attari-Wagha border. BCCI President-Vice President was welcomed by Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf. Diplomatic relations between the two countries have deteriorated since the 2008 Pakistani terrorist attack on India.

After this, Team India has not played any series in Pakistan. Apart from that, no BCCI official has visited Pakistan since 2008. Now after 15 years BCCI President Roger Binny and Vice President Rajiv Shukla have visited Pakistan. Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will face off in Lahore on September 5. During this match, BCCI President Roger Binny and Vice President Rajiv Shukla will be the chief guests at Gaddafi Stadium.

Earlier, Binny stated that he has no problems going to Pakistan as the people there are quite hospitable. As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, he said: “Vice President Rajiv Shukla and I will arrive in Pakistan on September 4. I have no hesitation in going to Pakistan. My visits to Pakistan were always memorable, Pakistanis are very hospitable. Matches between Pakistan and India are important for cricket.”

The next Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan will be played on 10 September 2023, Sunday at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The match will get started at 3:00 PM and the toss of the match will be done at 2:30 PM. In the match, The India team will be led by Rohit Sharma and the Pakistan team will be led by Babar Azam.
