After Arriving to India, Ajinkya Rahane Reveals Why He Refused To Cut Cake on A Kangaroo

Ajinkya Rahane is winning hearts by a gesture he made after returning from the Australia series. He spoke about the incident in an interview with Harsha Bhogale. Actually, the people from Ajinkya Rahane’s building in Mumbai had presented him with a cake on his return from the victorious Australia series.

The cake had a Kangaroo on it, which Ajinkya Rahane refused to cut. Harsha Bhogale asked him about the reason behind this gesture. Rahane’s reply was heart-wrenching. Rahane said, “Kangaroo is Australia’s national animal and I didn’t want to do that. I always respect my opposition and also respect other countries. So, didn’t cut the cake.”

This answer of Rahane suggests that he is a thorough gentleman of the game. Not just respecting the opposition, but also the sentiments of the people of other countries is just pure class from Rahane. He also said that he was tired but ‘in a good way’ after the five month long Australia tour and feels happy to be back home.

Rahane was the stand-in captain after Virat Kohli had to leave the team after the first Test against Australia. Rahane relished the opportunity and lead India to two victories to register a historic win down-under.

Currently, Rahane is in quarantine before the start of the next Test match against England in Chennai. He was seen having fun with his daughter in a video posted by his wife.
