The proposed transfer of former MP Prajwal Revanna from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison to Hindalga Central Prison in Belagavi was reportedly cancelled at the last moment, with reports suggesting that political pressure played a key role in the decision.
According to reports, Prajwal Revanna was being escorted from Parappana Agrahara Jail on Friday and had already reached Sira in Tumakuru district under the custody of the City Armed Reserve (CAR) police.
However, the transfer process reportedly took an unexpected turn after a senior police officer received a confidential phone call, leading to an immediate change in plans. Police sources claim that influential political leaders expressed concern that shifting Prajwal Revanna to Belagavi could provide the Opposition with a political opportunity and potentially embarrass the government.
Following these concerns, the senior officer allegedly received verbal instructions to halt the transfer and bring Prajwal Revanna back to Bengaluru. As a result, the transfer was reportedly cancelled midway, raising fresh questions about possible political interference in administrative and police decisions.
The reported last-minute reversal in the transfer of a high-profile accused has sparked intense political debate and renewed scrutiny over the functioning of the state’s administrative machinery.
