Narendra Modi would be sworn in over the weekend, possibly on June 8. The NDA has 293 MPs, comfortably above the majority of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha.

Newly elected parliamentarians of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance will meet on June 7 to elect Narendra Modi as their leader, paving the way for him to be sworn in for a third term as prime minister. As per report Narendra Modi will take Oath on June 8: These 4 Karnataka MPs to enter new Union Cabinet.

After Mr. Modi was elected as the leader of the NDA MPs, a senior member of the alliance, TDP’s N. Chandrababu Naidu and JDU’s Nitish Kumar will join Narendra Modi for meeting with President Draupadi Murmu and presenting parliamentarians supporting list.

As per report that Narendra Modi would be sworn in over the weekend, possibly on June 8. The NDA has 293 MPs, comfortably above the majority of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha. With BJP being given the maximum number of MPs from South India, state leaders have expressed hope that at least three MPs from Karnataka are likely to make it to the next Union Cabinet.

Karnataka is likely to get a better share even though BJP leaders are busy trying to accommodate alliance partners in the next cabinet. Of the 240 seats won by the BJP in the recent Lok Sabha elections, 17 came from Karnataka. Along with this the number of aspirants to enter new cabinet has also increased.

In the Modi 2.0 government, Karnataka had four Union Ministers – Pralhad Joshi, Shobha Karandlaje, A Narayanaswamy and Bhagwant Khooba. Narayanaswamy did not contest this time but Bhagwant Khooba lost from Bidar. The state BJP leaders are hopeful that veteran minister Pralhad Joshi will make it to the cabinet this time as well.

According to BJP sources, a Lingayat leader from Karnataka is expected to become a minister as per the caste equation. There are two big leaders including former CMs Jagdish Shettar and Basavaraja Bommai. Shetter has a good chance. However, senior party leader BS Yeddyurappa’s son BY Raghavendra, whose brother is heading the Karnataka BJP, is unlikely to get a cabinet berth, party insiders said.

Other names are also being heard including PC Mohan who has been winning from Bangalore Central since 2009. State JD(S) president and former CM HD Kumaraswamy attended the NDA meeting in New Delhi under the leadership of Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

The JD(S), which contested in alliance with the BJP, won two of the three seats it contested. Sources said that Kumaraswamy has also expressed his desire to be a part of the cabinet. Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda son-in-law Dr. CN. Manjunath’s name is also resounding. Renowned cardiologist Dr. Manjunath has defeated sitting MP DK Suresh from Bangalore Rural.

During the pre-election campaign, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda had said that his son-in-law Dr. CN Manjunath had treated lakhs of people and helped the poor, so the national leaders wanted him to be included in the alliance. However, BJP sources are said that as the party has to allow all its alliance MPs in the cabinet.
