Shivajinagar RO Basavaraj Somannavar confirmed that the nomination was rejected. JDS candidate for Shivajinagar Constituency Zafar Ali lived abroad for many years. In this background, his name was not in the voter list. However, Zafar Ali, who had recently returned to India, had submitted his nomination paper after obtaining B-form from JDS with the intention of joining politics.

In Shivajinagar, minority votes are high and JD(S) also fielded a candidate from the same community. Due to this, there was a fear that the Muslim votes would go to Congress candidate Rizwan Arshad. Since Congress and JDS candidates belong to the Muslim community, the minority votes will be divided and the BJP was confident that it will be a plus for them.

Now, since the JDS candidate’s nomination paper has been rejected, the Congress candidate seems to have got relief. It seems that BJP is a bit disappointed. Shivajinagar constituency has a total of 191528 voters, of which 94085 are women and 97441 are men.
