Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana: As soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government came to power in India, the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account was ordered to be opened. Now the government has again given good news.
As soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government came to power in India, the Prime Minister Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account was ordered to be opened. So many people who had never seen a bank before had opened a Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan account. Now the government has given good news to the Jan Dhan account holders.
This Jan Dhan account can be opened in any nationalized bank of the country. No money is required to open a Jan Dhan account. This account can be maintained at zero balance. Jan Dhan account holders can not only get zero balance but also get various central government facilities through Rupe Debit Cards.
A total of 47 crore people have opened Jan Dhan accounts in the country so far. Government can avail overdraft (OD) facility of Rs 10,000 for Jan Dhan account holders. Provision is made for availing this facility and repaying it later.
This OD facility can be availed after six months of opening the Jan Dhan account. Not only the OD facility, but the insurance facility is also provided by the central government. In case of death of a Jan Dhan account holder, the central government will provide a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to his family.
Apart from that, the government is also providing insurance facility to these account holders. In case of accidental death of the Jan Dhan account holder, an amount of Rs 30,000 will be given to the family members. Jan Dhan account can be opened in any nationalized bank in the country.
Who can open Jana Dhan account?
Every citizen of India can open a Jan Dhan account even without any money. There is no minimum balance requirement for Jan Dhan account holders. But if you want to have a checkbook then you have to maintain a minimum amount in the account.
Customers with Jan Dhan account will get interest of at least 4% on their savings. Also per cent for overdraft facility. 12% interest is charged. After all, let’s see what documents are required to open a Jan Dhan account.
Having Aadhaar card does not require any other documents to open a Jan Dhan account. If Aadhaar card is not available, voter ID card, driving license, PAN card, passport or any other government issued ID card can be given.
