IMD issued heavy rainfall alert in these states for 4 days

India meteorological department (IMD) said will trigger widespread rain with locally heavy falls over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and the adjoining areas on Monday, and Rajasthan, Gujarat, and the adjoining areas on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a low-pressure area is located in the Northeast and the adjoining Northwest Arabian Sea, due to which the Konkan coast will witness intermittent showers.

The monsoon trough runs through the eastern end to the south of its normal position, whereas the off-shore trough runs along south Gujarat and Maharashtra coasts at mean sea level. Under the combined influence of the above systems, the following regions will witness rains. Isolated very heavy rainfall likely over Himachal Pradesh on August 15; Konkan & Goa, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha & Chhattisgarh on August 17; North Madhya Maharashtra during August 15-16; West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat state on August 16 and over Odisha on August 18-19.

Isolated extremely heavy rainfall may occur over West Madhya Pradesh on August 15. Scattered/Fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Punjab on August 15; East Uttar Pradesh during August 15-17; Uttarakhand on August 18; Jammu division on August 15.

As for the mercury levels, maximum temperatures are expected to be cooler than normal across the northwestern part of the country apart from Western Himalayan Region for the next five days. The Southwestern and Northeastern parts of the country will experience warmer-than-normal maximums for the next five days. Overnight minimums in Western Himalayan Region and Northeastern India will be warmer than normal for the next five days.
