Heavy Rainfall: IMD issued alert these states

After days of scorching summer, the country is now getting respite from heat wave conditions as it witnesses isolated rainfall over several places. The downpour will continue for as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall over several states in the coming days. Heavy Rainfall: IMD issued alert these states.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow alert for Pune for May 29 and May 30. May areas in Pune are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) on May 29 and May 30.

The weather department has also issued a rainfall warning for eight more districts in Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, and the Konkan meteorological subdivisions.  IMD had also issued an Orange alert for Haryana, North-East Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday while stating that there is a possibility of thunderstorms in Delhi for the next 3-4 days.

According to IMD, nine districts in Maharashtra will witness light to moderate rainfall on May 29 while 14 districts could witness rainfall on May 30. The weather department has also predicted rainfall in 4 districts in the state namely, Satara, Kolhapur, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli.

IMD’s K S Hosalikar while warning the citizens of Maharashtra about the possible rainfall conditions has asked them to be careful and follow the warning, and advisories issued by the weathermen.   Pune is currently witnessing a temperature below normal level accompanied by partly cloudy weather in the afternoon.

However, the temperature could feel relatively higher owing to the increase in humidity in the city.  Pune’s Shivajinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday which is around 0.4 degrees below the normal level.

Magarpatta recorded the highest temperature in the city at 37 degrees Celsius while Lavasa recorded the lowest temperature at 31.6 degrees Celsius. Yellow alert by IMD means that the agency is expecting around 7.5 to 15 mm of rainfall which could continue for 1-2 hours and could result in a possible flooding situation.
