A source told the agency that 49 flights were diverted between 11.30 pm on May 24 (Saturday) and 4 am on May 25 (Sunday) due to adverse weather conditions. According to data on flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, 180 flights were delayed at the airport, while several others were canceled.

Meanwhile, the canopy at the arrivals area of Delhi IGIA Terminal 1 partially collapsed due to Heavy Rainfall Alert and strong winds in the early hours of May 25. “As part of the design’s natural response to extreme conditions and to prevent excessive water retention, a section of the external tensile fabric at the front of the T1 arrival is adjusted in tension.
