Today marks the 22nd anniversary of Sachin’s first of his 100 centuries. Specially, on the eve of the country’s Independence Day, on August 14, Sachin scored his first international century in a Test match against England in Manchester.Sachin scored first international century on this day

On August 14, the last day of the Test match which started on August 9, 1990, Sachin Tendulkar scored an amazing 119 runs in India’s 2nd innings. Sachin, a 17-year-old boy who was creased at number 6, started his century hunt by scoring 119 runs in 189 balls with 17 fours. Another special point is that the match in which Sachin scored his first international century was the debut Test match of Karnataka’s spin wizard Anil Kumble.

The then Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh issued a statement where he congratulated Sachin Tendulkar for his triumph and wished him the best for achieving many more feats in his inspiring career.

The cricket legend made a whopping 18426 ODI runs and announced his retirement from one-day internationals in December 2012.

Master Blaster, who made his debut in international cricket through a Test match against Pakistan in 1989, has scored 15,921 runs with 51 centuries in a total of 200 Test matches in his career. Sachin holds the world record for most runs and most centuries in Test cricket.

Sachin, who has played a world record 463 matches in ODI cricket, has scored a world record 18,426 runs with a world record 49 centuries.
