Manohari Tea: 1 kg of tea powder sold for Rs 1,15,000

Special tea powder was sold at Rs 1,15,000 per kg in a private auction in Assam. Also, ‘Manohari Tea’ grown in Assam’s Dibrugarh district has written a new record by being sold for such a huge amount. Tea estate owner Rajan Lohia said that the price of ‘Manohari Gold Tea’ was fetched in the auction held on the private portal ‘Tea Intech’.

He said he had to sell this year’s tea in a private auction as Tea Board India fixed the maximum selling price of tea at Rs one lakh per kg at the Guwahati Tea Auction Center (GTAC). “This is the highest price for tea at any such auction,” he said.

Lohia informed that RK Tea Sales bought this one kg special tea at this price. Manohari tea, especially its gold variety, has been fetching high prices in GTAC over the years. It has set many records for the highest selling price. In December 2021, Manohari Gold was sold through GTAC at Rs 99,999 per kg.
