IMD issued heavy rainfall alert in these states for next 5 days

IMD issued heavy rainfall alert: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain and thundershower activities from March 15 under the influence of western disturbance. IMD issued heavy rainfall alert in these states for 5 days. In many states including the national capital Delhi, severe heat has started in the month of March itself and the temperature continues to be higher than the average.

In many states, the temperature has reached above 35 degree Celsius. However, during this period, relief has also been received in some states due to rain and strong winds and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a warning regarding this. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding rain in many states for the next 5 days.

Isolated to scattered light rainfall activity with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeast India on March 13-14, and scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall activity with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) from March 15-17.

Another western disturbance exists as a trough in westerlies in and upper tropospheric levels and runs roughly along Long. 65°E and to the north of 27°N. An induced cyclonic circulation lies over south Pakistan and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels. Isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over the Western Himalayan Region on March 13-14, over Punjab and Rajasthan on March 13.

Isolated hailstorms are also possible over Uttarakhand on March 13. Isolated light rainfall activity with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) is expected over West Madhya Pradesh from March 14-17 and with thunderstorms and lightning over Gujarat on March 13-14, Madhya Maharashtra from March 13-16, Marathwada from March 13-17, and over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh from March 14-17.

Due to the likely interaction of a middle tropospheric westerly trough with lower level easterly winds over central parts of Peninsular India and East India, isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall is likely over north interior Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Interior Karnataka, east Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand from March 15-17.
