Ahead of Valentine’s Day, the Animal Welfare Board of India has urged people to observe ‘Cow Hug Day’ on February 14. Highlighting the significance of cows in the Indian culture and rural economy, the board wishes to celebrate Cow Hug Day to bring emotional richness and happiness to people.

The day is celebrated to learn about cows and celebrate how they are the backbone of India’s society and economy. We all know that cow is the backbone of Indian culture and rural economy; we need it for our life. It represents livestock wealth and biodiversity.

It is called ‘Kamadhenu’ and ‘Gomata’ because of its motherly nature. She is the giver of all wealth to humanity, the board said in a statement issued on February 6. A day like this is needed because western culture is causing the extinction of Vedic traditions. “

Embracing the cow brings emotional richness in view of its immense benefits. It enhances our individual and collective happiness. So, all cow lovers can celebrate February 14 as a day to embrace the cow, keep in mind the importance of mother cow and make life happy and with positive energy,” a government release said.

The notice also mentioned that the Vedic traditions are almost on the verge of extinction due to the heavy influence of western culture. Thus, the board appealed to citizens to celebrate Cow Hug Day to preserve and promote the country’s heritage.
