Bank Holiday: The world is gearing up to welcome the New Year. Indians are all set to buy the 2023 calendar for the New Year 2022 is only a few days away. But at the beginning of the New Year there is a row of holidays. Bank Holiday: 14 days bank holiday in the month of January.

The bank holiday list has been released and there will be a holiday for banks for fourteen days in the month of January. Customers need to keep bank holidays in mind. New Year 2023 is just a few days away.

RBI has released the list of holidays. Banks will be closed for 14 days in January 2023. Despite the 14-day holiday, banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays. So customers need to focus on the following holidays before going for bank business.

Here is the full list (from 1st January):

January 1: New Year’s Day (across all states) (Sunday)

January 5: Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti

January 11: Missionary Day (only Mizoram)

January 12: Swami Vivekanand Jayanti

January 14: Makar Sankranti (Second Saturday)

January 15: Pongal/Magh Bihu (Sunday)

January 22: Sonam Losar (only Sikkim) (Sunday)

January 23: Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Jayanti

January 25: State Day (Himachal Pradesh)

January 26: Republic Day (across all states)

January 31: Me-Dam-Me-Phi (only Assam)

Apart from this list, as per the Holiday Under Negotiable Instruments Act, the banks will also remain closed on some of the days of the weekends. These are mentioned below:

January 1: Sunday

January 8: Sunday

January 14: Second Saturday

January 15: Sunday

January 22: Sunday

January 28: Fourth Saturday

January 29: Sunday.

The Reserve Bank of India has classified bank holidays into three types. Classified as holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and real-time gross settlement holiday. While all banks observe national festivals, some banks include regional festivals and holidays. Additionally, regional bank holidays are decided by the respective state governments.
