Three from Bengaluru family killed in road accident en route to Tirupati

Bengaluru : A tragic road accident claimed the lives of three members of a Bengaluru-based family who were on their way to the temple town of Tirupati for darshan at the famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple.

The accident occurred on the Bengaluru–Chittoor National Highway near Bangarupalem-Palamakulapalli in Andhra Pradesh. The deceased have been identified as a couple and their four-year-old daughter, all residents of Bengaluru. The car driver sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital, with his condition reported to be critical.

According to preliminary information, the family had started from Bengaluru and was scheduled to attend a darshan slot at Tirupati around noon. However, their journey ended in tragedy when their car rammed into a stationary bus on the highway.

Police sources said the bus, which was travelling from Palamaner to Chittoor, had halted on the roadside near Bangarupalem when the speeding car crashed into it from behind. The impact of the collision was so severe that the couple and their young daughter died on the spot.

“The force of the crash left the victims trapped inside the mangled vehicle. Rescue operations were carried out to retrieve the bodies,” a police official said.

The driver of the car was found critically injured and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Authorities suspect overspeeding to be the primary cause of the accident. The हादसा led to a brief disruption of traffic on the highway as police and emergency teams worked to clear the wreckage.

The severely damaged car was lodged beneath the rear portion of the bus and had to be pulled out using a JCB machine. Visuals from the scene indicated the extent of the impact, with the vehicle completely crushed in the front.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain further details, including whether negligence or mechanical failure played a role in the incident.

The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom, highlighting once again the dangers of high-speed driving on national highways. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly during long-distance travel.
