Thousands to gather for Mahashivaratri at Art of Living International Centre

Bengaluru : The Art of Living International Centre in Bengaluru is set to witness a massive spiritual congregation as devotees assemble to celebrate Mahashivaratri with traditional Vedic rituals and devotional fervour. The annual event, organised by the Art of Living Foundation, will continue through the night with prayer, meditation and sacred ceremonies.
Held in the presence of spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the festival is expected to attract thousands of participants from India and overseas. The event is known globally for its unique blend of ancient Vedic practices and vibrant devotional music that sustains spiritual energy throughout the night.
Mahashivaratri holds immense significance in Hindu tradition, symbolising a rare cosmic alignment that supports meditation and spiritual growth. The night is considered especially conducive for experiencing deep inner silence and higher states of consciousness.
The key ritual of the evening will be the Maha Rudra Puja, dedicated to Lord Shiva’s Rudra aspect. Chanting of sacred hymns including Sri Rudram will accompany the ritual, believed to cleanse the surroundings and uplift collective consciousness. Devotees regard participation in the ceremony as an opportunity for personal transformation and renewal.
The celebrations will begin at 7:15 pm with devotional bhajans, followed by the Maha Rudra Puja and an address by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. A guided meditation at 11:30 pm will mark the midnight observance, leading into the Maha Rudra Homa at 4:00 am.
Organisers have arranged for prasadam distribution to nearly three lakh devotees. Thousands of volunteers have been deployed to manage logistics and ensure a seamless experience for attendees.
Simultaneously, Rudra Puja ceremonies will be conducted at nearly 150 locations across the country, allowing devotees to participate locally. With global participation and a deeply spiritual ambience, the Mahashivaratri celebrations are expected to once again transform the ashram into a vibrant hub of devotion, meditation and collective prayer.
