The price of Nandini milk in Karnataka is likely to be revised soon, with an expected increase of Rs 5 to Rs 6 per litre. A final decision is expected to be taken at the State Cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow. Nandini Milk Price Likely to Rise by Rs 5 to Rs 6 Per Litre from Tomorrow.
If the proposal receives Cabinet approval, the revised prices will come into effect across the state from October 2. Several district milk unions had urged the Karnataka government to increase milk prices by Rs 10 to Rs 12 per litre to safeguard the interests of dairy farmers.
However, in view of the financial burden faced by farmers due to the prevailing drought conditions, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has proposed a price hike of Rs 5–Rs 6 per litre, which has reportedly received the consent of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
Under the proposed plan, the additional revenue generated from the price hike will be shared between dairy farmers and milk unions. Seventy percent (70%) of the additional amount will be transferred directly to milk producers, while the remaining 30% will be allocated to KMF and various district milk unions to meet transportation, procurement, and operational expenses.
The Cabinet’s decision is expected to determine the final price revision, which could affect millions of consumers across Karnataka from October 2.
