Karnataka to Simplify Tourism Policy to Attract More Private Investment Says K J George

The Karnataka government plans easier approvals, investor incentives, and stronger administrative support to boost tourism projects, create employment, and unlock the state's vast tourism potential through private participation.

The Karnataka government is preparing to simplify its tourism policies in a major push to attract private investment and accelerate the growth of the state’s tourism sector. Tourism and Energy Minister K J George announced the initiative while addressing the three day Indian International Travel Mart IITM 2026 exhibition in Bengaluru.

According to the minister, the government’s priority is to make it easier for investors to launch tourism projects by reducing administrative hurdles. A single window clearance system will be introduced to speed up approvals, allowing businesses to complete formalities more efficiently and begin operations without unnecessary delays.

The state also plans to offer attractive subsidies and incentives for private companies willing to invest in new tourism ventures. George said the government is committed to providing complete administrative support to entrepreneurs and investors interested in developing tourism related infrastructure across Karnataka.

Adventure tourism, coastal cruise tourism, ecotourism, and world class resort development have been identified as key focus areas for future investment. The government believes these sectors have significant growth potential and can help attract both domestic and international visitors while expanding Karnataka’s tourism footprint.

Officials expect that encouraging greater private participation will not only improve tourism infrastructure but also create substantial employment opportunities for local youth. The proposed policy changes are aimed at generating long term economic benefits by promoting sustainable tourism development across different regions of the state.

George said Karnataka possesses immense tourism potential that can be better utilised through investor friendly policies and streamlined governance. By creating a more supportive business environment, the government hopes to encourage both established companies and new investors to enter the tourism sector.

The announcement was made during the Indian International Travel Mart IITM 2026, which brought together senior tourism department officials along with more than 850 representatives from 16 states and over 26 international tourism organisations. The event served as a platform for discussions on investment opportunities, industry partnerships, and strategies to strengthen Karnataka’s position as a leading tourism destination.
