FIR Registered Against Woman Over Controversial Poster Displayed During NEET Protest in Bengaluru
Bengaluru Police registered a case against a woman after she allegedly displayed provocative posters during a NEET protest prompting an investigation into alleged incitement and public order concerns.
A woman has been booked by Bengaluru Police after allegedly displaying controversial posters during a protest against the NEET examination issue at Freedom Park. The incident has drawn attention after police claimed that the posters contained provocative messages capable of disturbing public order. An investigation is now underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The protest was part of nationwide demonstrations held over the alleged NEET question paper leak. Students across several parts of the country had taken to the streets demanding accountability and reforms, with the protests drawing significant public attention.
According to police, the controversy erupted when the woman displayed posters expressing support for Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, both accused in the 2020 Northeast Delhi riots case. The posters also allegedly carried the phrase Ukhad Le BLR Police, which authorities viewed as objectionable and potentially provocative.
Police personnel deployed at the protest quickly noticed the posters and intervened before the situation could escalate. Officers immediately removed the posters from the protest site to prevent any disturbance and maintain law and order.
An FIR has been registered at Upparpet Police Station based on a complaint filed by a woman police officer who was on security duty during the demonstration. The case has been booked under allegations related to incitement that could potentially lead to public unrest. Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
Witnesses at the protest said several students participating in the demonstration also objected to the controversial posters. According to those present, the protesters distanced themselves from the messages and asked the woman to leave the protest venue, stating that the display did not represent the purpose of their demonstration.
The incident has added a fresh dimension to the protests in Bengaluru, with authorities emphasizing the need to ensure that public demonstrations remain peaceful and within the boundaries of the law. Officials have stated that further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
