Fake transfer plea lands KSRTC staffer in Mangaluru; case filed in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: In a startling case of alleged forgery within the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, a KSRTC driver-cum-conductor was abruptly transferred to Mangaluru based on what later turned out to be a suspected fake application submitted in his name.
A criminal case has now been registered at the Vidhana Soudha police station against a person identified as Sachin. The staffer, M. Jayadeva, was serving at the Magadi depot under the Bengaluru South division of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).
He was suddenly issued transfer orders to the Mangaluru division, reportedly following a recommendation attributed to Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Suspicious about the circumstances of the transfer, Jayadeva began verifying the records. During his visit to the minister’s office at Vidhana Soudha, he discovered that a recommendation letter had been processed based on an application purportedly submitted in his name seeking transfer on “family grounds.”
Jayadeva has categorically denied submitting any such request. In his complaint, he stated that he had not applied for a transfer to Mangaluru and suspected that someone had forged his signature and fabricated documents to initiate the move.
He subsequently approached the Vidhana Soudha police station and lodged a formal complaint. According to the complaint, Jayadeva had earlier been serving in the Bengaluru Central division’s sixth depot.
On November 11, 2025, he was suddenly transferred from the Bengaluru Central division to the Mangaluru division by the then Chief Traffic Manager, Anthony George. On probing further, he came to know that the transfer had been processed based on a recommendation from the district in-charge minister.
Seeking clarity, Jayadeva filed Right to Information (RTI) applications with the KSRTC central office as well as the Department of Health and Family Welfare to obtain relevant documents. Upon reviewing the records, he allegedly found that a transfer request dated September 24, 2025, had been submitted in his name citing family problems, complete with what he claims was a forged signature.
The complaint specifically mentions that a person named Sachin had collected the minister’s endorsement letter and was instrumental in processing the transfer. Jayadeva has urged police to question Sachin and identify those responsible for creating and submitting the alleged fake documents to the minister’s office.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into charges of forgery and impersonation. Officials are expected to scrutinise the documents and verify the authenticity of signatures and supporting papers.
The incident has raised concerns about procedural safeguards within government departments and public sector undertakings, particularly in matters related to staff transfers. Further investigation is underway.
