The incident shifted attention away from the students’ demonstration and sparked immediate controversy at the venue.
The protest had been organized by students demanding accountability over the alleged examination paper leak. While the demonstration was progressing, a woman was seen holding posters carrying messages in support of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam. One of the posters also included the slogan Ukhad Le BLR Police, drawing the attention of both protesters and law enforcement officials.
Several students participating in the protest strongly objected to the posters, stating that such messages had no connection with the purpose of the demonstration. They argued that introducing unrelated political issues could distract from the campaign focused on the alleged NEET paper leak and urged the woman to leave the protest site.
Police personnel stationed at the venue quickly noticed the situation and intervened before it could escalate. As a precautionary measure, officers confiscated the posters and monitored the gathering closely to prevent any disturbance.
The display of the posters briefly created a tense atmosphere at the protest venue. However, police acted promptly to restore order, ensuring that the demonstration continued without any major disruption.
Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam have both been accused in connection with the 2020 northeast Delhi riots case. The appearance of posters supporting the two individuals during the student protest triggered sharp reactions from participants, who maintained that the focus should remain on the issues surrounding the alleged NEET paper leak rather than unrelated controversies.
Authorities managed the situation without reports of violence, and normalcy returned to the protest after police intervention. The incident has nevertheless generated discussion over the use of unrelated political messages during public demonstrations centered on student concerns.
