The Karnataka School Education Department has officially approved the direct recruitment of 814 Lecturer posts in Government Pre-University (PU) Colleges across the state. The vacancies include 778 posts under the Residual Parent Cadre and 36 posts under the Kalyana Karnataka (KK) Cadre.
As per the latest government order, the previously approved vacancies have been reclassified, and the recruitment will now be carried out subject-wise. The recruitment process will be conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) through a transparent competitive examination.
Under the amended recruitment rules, the government has officially designated KEA as the selection authority for these appointments. The detailed notification, containing information on the application schedule, eligibility criteria, age limit, examination pattern, syllabus, and other recruitment guidelines, is expected to be released on the official KEA website shortly.
Under the newly amended recruitment rules, candidates selected as PU College Lecturers may also be required to teach students of Classes 9 and 10, if necessary. This condition has been clearly incorporated into the revised recruitment guidelines to ensure better utilization of teaching staff in government institutions.
Among the subject-wise vacancies, Commerce has the highest number of openings with 150 posts, followed by English (145), Computer Science (110), Economics (90), and Kannada (89).
