Vivo has confirmed the India launch date of its upcoming V80 smartphone, bringing a new model to the company’s V Series lineup ahead of the festive season. The phone will be introduced in India on October 6 at 12 noon.
The V80 is being positioned around photography, video recording, battery life and display performance. Vivo has already revealed several important specifications ahead of the launch, while details such as the final price are still to be announced.
One of the biggest changes is the battery. The Vivo V80 comes with a 7200mAh battery, which Vivo describes as the largest battery used in its V Series smartphones launched in India as of October 6. The phone supports 90W FlashCharge technology.
Vivo says the battery can provide up to 39.5 hours of local video playback and up to 14 hours of navigation under its stated test conditions. The company also says the fast charging system can take the battery to 50 percent in about 30 minutes. Actual results will vary depending on usage and other conditions.
The display is another major feature of the smartphone. Vivo V80 has a 6.59 inch 1.5K OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. The display can reach a local peak brightness of up to 5000 nits, according to the specifications revealed by Vivo.
Photography remains a central part of the V80 experience. The rear camera system has ZEISS branding and includes a 50 megapixel main camera using the Sony LYTIA 700V sensor with optical image stabilisation.
The phone also features a 50 megapixel ZEISS Night Telephoto camera based on the Sony IMX882 sensor. It supports optical image stabilisation and 3x optical zoom, with Vivo also highlighting zoom capabilities reaching up to 100 times. A ZEISS ultra wide angle camera completes the rear setup.
The front camera has a 50 megapixel sensor and supports autofocus with a wide field of view. This gives the V80 a strong focus on selfies, group photographs and video calls alongside its rear camera capabilities.
Video recording is another area where Vivo has added new features. The smartphone supports 4K Cinematic Video as well as 4K recording at 60 frames per second. Vivo is also promoting several AI powered creative imaging tools designed to help users edit and enhance photographs.
The company has highlighted more than 30 AI creative features for the V80. These include tools such as AI Diwali Portrait 2.0, Live Sticker Collage and other camera related functions. Some of these features are designed around creative photography and festive content.
Software will also be an important change with this generation. Vivo V80 will be the first V Series smartphone to ship with Android 17 based OriginOS 7 in India. Vivo has also stated that the device will receive up to six years of security updates.
The processor has not been officially confirmed by Vivo at this stage. However, a Geekbench listing linked to the V80 showed a Qualcomm chipset identified as the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. The listing recorded 1070 points in the single core test and 3552 points in the multi core test. Since Vivo has not officially confirmed the processor, these details should be treated as benchmark based information for now.
The smartphone will be available in three colour options. Vivo has announced Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue and Stellar Black for the Indian market. The design includes a redesigned camera area, giving the phone a different visual identity compared with the previous V Series generation.
Vivo has not yet announced the Indian price of the V80. The phone will launch on October 6 at 12 noon, after which pricing and complete configuration details are expected to become clearer.
After launch, Vivo V80 will be available through the Vivo India website, Amazon, Flipkart and offline retail stores across the country. This gives buyers several purchase channels once the handset officially goes on sale.
With its large battery, high refresh rate OLED display and ZEISS camera system, the Vivo V80 is clearly being positioned as a camera and entertainment focused smartphone. The addition of OriginOS 7 and Android 17 also makes software a significant part of the new model.
The October launch timing puts the Vivo V80 in the market just before the festive shopping season. Its final price will therefore be an important factor for buyers deciding whether the combination of camera hardware, battery capacity and display features fits their requirements.
