The Karnataka government will soon begin the recruitment process to fill vacant teaching positions in the state’s higher education sector, Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy has announced.

The recruitment drive will include 2,000 Assistant Professors and 1,000 Professors across various state universities, taking the total number of appointments to 3,000.

The minister also revealed that Artificial Intelligence (AI) training will soon be introduced for students in all universities across the state, aiming to equip them with future-ready skills.

Speaking after presiding over the ‘Prajaseva Andolana’ programme held at Mangaluru village in Kukanoor taluk of Koppal district on Saturday, Rayareddy said the initiative has been launched to address public grievances promptly at the grassroots level.

He expressed confidence that the programme would enable the administration to respond more efficiently to citizens’ concerns. He said the primary objective of the initiative is to resolve local issues within the respective regions while ensuring that the benefits of various government welfare schemes reach people’s doorsteps.

As part of the programme, ‘Prajaseva Andolana’ meetings will be conducted every Saturday at taluk headquarters to facilitate the timely resolution of public grievances. The minister further stated that the programme will be chaired by the respective Deputy Commissioners on the first and second Saturdays of every month.

Applications and complaints submitted by the public will be examined on the spot, and efforts will be made to provide prompt solutions. The initiative, he said, reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public administration.
