Subramanya Hebbagelu Selected as Vice President for Qatar ICC

Doha: Victorious social worker Subramanya Hebbagelu elected as Vice President for Indian apex body in Qatar Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) for second time. Election was held through mobile phone digital platform DIGIPOLL in which thousands of ICC members participated and cast their valuable vote.

There are hundreds of affiliate organizations (AO) under ICC and each one of these AO representatives have a vote to cast for their representative. Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu contested in this year ICC election and was elected for representing AOs. This is his consecutive representation of Karnataka state in ICC in the Management committee and shows his eagerness to serve the larger Indian community in the state of Qatar.

Sri Subramanya Hebbagelu has been actively involved in community service for the past decade. During the covered waves in Qatar he was instrumental in supporting several members of the Indian community who were deprived off basic necessities such as food and shelter. He used to distribute vegetables and cooked food to hundreds of people every day when the corona was at its peak in Qatar.

He was also actively involved in ranging departure flight for Indians in need to return to Motherland during the COVID crisis. It is worthwhile to mention a specific characteristic of this unique personality. The mortal remains of Indian nationals in Qatar who would have lost their lives due to various reasons are handed over to their respective families in India with minimum hurdles and the contribution of Sri Subramanya Hebbagelu to such noble cause is immense.

In the past six years there are hundreds of such cases which have been dealt with. He has been felicitated by the Indian embassy several times. His Excellency Dr. Deepak Mittal the present ambassador of the Republic of India to the state of Qatar has presented mementos and certificate of recognition to Mr. Subramanya for his community services.

 Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu for being designated as the Vice President of ICC for the period 2023-2025 which is a consecutive term held by a person from Karnataka for the first time. Being victorious in the current election of 2023 confirms the selfless, perennial social and continued community service of Mr. Subramanya for the next two years.
