School Teacher Duty Timing: Education Department important order

In order to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning of students in government schools, the Department of School Education has issued an important order for teachers to attend school half an hour earlier than the scheduled time.

In relation to the matter, in reference (1) circular, teachers in schools have already been guided to attend daily duty within the prescribed period, perform teaching-learning activities actively and perform their duties adequately in order to impart quality education to the children.

As mentioned in reference (4), in view of the approach of 5th, 8th and 9th class assessment exams and SSLC exams, action should be taken to give more emphasis to children’s learning. Keeping in mind the physical and human resources, teaching and learning aspects, school educational environment etc. of each school, formulating and implementing various programs so that all the children of the school have the expected learning level.

Observe the physical, mental intellectual and social development of each child in the school, continuously understanding the progress. The role of teachers is significant to perfect children academically. Improving teacher preparation, learning environment, teaching methods to improve teaching-learning of children in school.

Facilitating learning through timely use of teaching learning materials. Also, the head teachers of schools are the first level supervisors in the management of educational programs implementation, supervision and guidance etc., ensuring the learning of basic skills of language and mathematics and science among children. Adequate monitoring at the school level itself is essential to move towards universalization of child learning in schools.

As indicated in the departmental guidelines, the head teacher should attend half an hour before the school starts, all the teachers and staff should make all the necessary preparations and proceed according to the teaching schedule. Teachers must take prior approval to go on leave. The Head Teacher in every school shall attend duty within the stipulated time and take action to achieve quality education of the children as per the departmental guidelines and instructions issued from time to time.

It is mandatory to promote children’s achievements in SDMC parents’ meeting from time to time, take remedial teaching for children who are lagging behind in learning and take action to increase the learning ability of children.

The popular programs of the department such as Pradhan Mantri Poshan Program, Midday Breakfast, Ksheera Bhagya Yojana and other programs are being supervised and made successful by all the teachers including the head teacher. To take care of the safe exit of the children from the school after the end of the school term and to take measures to keep the school inventory, school material, safe.
