School Students good news: Dasara holiday may extend till November 1

The Karnataka Government Rural Primary School Teachers' Association appealed to its president Basavaraja Horatti to extend the Dasara holiday till November 1.

The Karnataka Government Rural Primary School Teachers’ Association met President Basavaraja Horatti on Sunday and submitted a request to extend the Dasara holiday. On receiving this request, the chairman called the primary and secondary education minister Madhu Bangarappa and told him to extend the leave in the interest of the children.

After talking to the media, Horatti said, “Education system is not right today. School holidays used to be fixed in the past. Schools used to start on the last working day of April and 29th or 30th of May. Dasara holidays used to be from 2nd October to 30th. Then some officials without knowledge have given 4 days leave for Dasara and 4 days for Diwali as they want. This is not a proper system,” he said.

Teachers union wrote to CM: Recently, Dasara holiday period has been reduced. The Karnataka Government Rural Primary School Teachers’ Association had written to the Chief Minister asking that leave should be extended. The department said that school will start again on 25th of this month. But, there is Dasara festival on 24th.

In the past, holidays were cut during Corona. But it still hasn’t been fixed. Earlier Dasara holiday was given for one month. Now the leave has been reduced to just 15 days. School starts on the day after the Dasara festival and it becomes stressful for the children. The teachers’ association had written a letter to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and the Education Minister saying that the Dasara holiday should be extended because the children have gone to the festival.
