Vidhan Sabha Speaker Basavaraja Horatti advised the Education Minister over the phone to extend the school Dasara holidays. He advised Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa to extend the holiday till November 1 in the interest of the children.

The State High School Co-Teachers’ Association has appealed to the School Education Department to review and extend the Dasara Holiday. School holidays were given from Pre-independence and post-independence. Dasara holiday Extends Till November 1: Basavaraja Horatti Big Statement.

That means Dasara holiday was given from October 3 to October 31. Through this, the children were encouraged to know the heritage and rituals of the country and take it to the next generation. Hence it was called Dasara holiday.

But it is not right that the 29 days holiday has been reduced to 14-15 days in recent times. Therefore, it is mentioned in the letter that the interim leave should be re-examined and leave should be granted. Currently the number of school days has increased to 260. Earlier there were 230 school days.

The School Education Department is given only 10 earned leaves to teachers. But 30 earning holidays are being given to other department employees. Also, high school teachers are busy with evaluation work of answer sheets of class 10th exams in April-May. Thus, the action of cutting Dasara holidays is unscientific in psychological terms. Requested to reexamine the interim leave and extend it till 31st.
