Primary and secondary education minister BC Nagesh said the DDPIs would discuss the issue with the district authorities and announce the holiday to colleges in the districts where the law and order is deteriorating.

Some students from MGM college Udupi turned up with saffron shawls and saffron peta, and hijab. Some boys wore both saffron peta and shawls while some girls were seen wearing either saffron shawls or hijab in the premises of the two MGM colleges. Though the situation in the college campus was tense for some time in the forenoon as the students gathered inside the campus protested against each other, it eased after the college declared a holiday. The students dispersed gradually.

Congress leader DK Shivakumar issued a tweet stating, “The situation in some Karnataka educational institutions has gone so out of hand that in one case the National flag was replaced by a saffron flag. I think the affected institutions should be closed for a week to restore law and order. Teaching can continue online.”
