Karnataka Weather Report: Many parts of Karnataka continue to receive heavy rainfall in last two days. Heavy downpour wreaked havoc in Coastal districts on Tuesday. In the wake of predictions for harsh weather, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Mulai Mugulan announced a holiday for schools and colleges in Mangaluru, Mulki, Ullal, Moodbidri and Bantwal on Tuesday (July 4) and announced holiday for schools and colleges in complete Dakshina Kannda districts on Wednesday (July 5).

As a precaution measure Udupi deputy commissioner Kurma Rao announced a holiday for schools and colleges in Udupi districts on (July 5). The weather forecasting agency issued a red alert for coastal Karnataka states like Dakshin Kannada, Udupi and Uttar Kannada.

Most of the Southern states are experiencing heavy rainfall in last two-three days. Earlier, Kerala government had declared a holiday in all the state government-run education institutions due to heavy rainfall prediction by the IMD in Ernakulam and Alappuzha districts.

In the next five days, southern states can experience further moderate intensity rainfall, whereas some parts can witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.

As per the latest forecast, IMD has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfalls at isolated places over Konkan and Goa, Marathwada, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe and heavy rainfall at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema.
