Karnataka school holiday extend: Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna has appealed to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to postpone the start of schools by 1 week due to the problem of drinking water.

Yashpal Suvarna has appealed to the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Government  Principal Secretary to postpone the opening of primary and high schools by 1 week in view of the drinking water problem in various parts of the state including Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district.

The primary and secondary schools for the academic year 2023-24 will start from May 29 as per the order of the Education Department. Due to the delay in monsoon this time, the problem of drinking water is severe in different parts of the state.

Due to inadequate drinking water system in many schools of the state, it is difficult to supply drinking water to school students, heating and maintaining cleanliness of the school environment. Udupi MLA has mentioned that this will affect the health and daily activities of the school students.

Considering the seriousness of the problem, he has requested to direct the education department to postpone the start of school for one week.
