Karnataka Dasara School Holiday May Extend Till October 31

Karnataka education department announced Dasara holiday for 15 days this time it is now made anger to school teachers in state. Teachers union has written letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Education Minister regarding Dasara holiday extend.

Karnataka Dasara School Holiday: Students are enjoying Dussehra holidays. The government was issued an order reducing the Dussehra vacation of government schools before start holiday. This has angered the teachers. Dasara holiday was given before from October 2 to 31. Karnataka Dasara School Holiday May Extend Till October 31.

Dussehra vacation was shortened to make up for classes not held during the lockdown due to Covid. But this time, even though people’s lives are normal, the holiday has been cut, which has led to teachers angry. As per the revised guidelines issued by government, the Dussehra holiday has been reduced for academic year 2023-24.

This time Dussehra holiday has been given to general schools from October 8 to 24. Dussehra vacation for special school children has been cancelled. Therefore, teachers have to perform their duties continuously. Karnataka education department announced Dasara holiday for 15 days this time it is now made anger to school teachers in state.

Teachers union has written letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Education Minister regarding Dasara holiday extend. Vijayadashami is celebrated on October 24 and the education department has ordered to start school on the next day of festival October 25. Teachers expressed concern that doing this would increase the pressure on the students.

All schools in the entire state are on holiday, Children are enjoying the holiday. But the teachers are busy to written letter to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister to extend the Dasara holiday till October 30.

School starts the day after the festival:

The education department has shortened the Dasara holiday this year also. Vacation was cut during Corona pandemic. But it still hasn’t been fixed. Earlier Dasara holiday was one month, now it has reduced to only 15 days.

The school starts the next day after the Dasara festival and it becomes stressful for the children. For that reason, teachers of Karnataka government Rural Primary School Teachers’ Association have written a letter to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister to extend the Dasara holiday till October 30.

Last year, the education department had verbally informed the teachers union about the extension of the leave, but this year leave period has not been extended. Apart from this, there is also an allegation that teachers leave has been curtailed.

For this reason, teachers union met former CM Jagdish Shettar and requested him to extend the leave. For that reason, the teachers’ union has appealed to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister to extend the holidays.

Teachers union also appealed to Jagdish Shettar that the festival was held on 24th and the school started on 25th so the children will be under pressure and the festival will not be celebrated. And they also said that other department employees get 30 days holidays, but teachers only get 10 earned days holiday. The teachers union expressed their outrage.

When the government announced the academic schedule for the year 2023-24, there was a notice that the Dasara holiday would be shortened. Total school duty days available this year are 244. 26 days for examination, evaluation activities. 24 days for conducting extra curricular activity/ co-curricular activities/ competitions.

The duty days remaining for the teaching-learning process were listed as 180. It was informed in the academic schedule that the duty days of the first school term would be from 29/5/2023 to 2/10/2023 and the school duty days of the second term would be from 25/10/2023 to 10/4/2023. The world famous Mysuru Dasara was started on October 15 and end on October 24. Renowned music director Hamsalekha inaugurated Dasara on Monday, October 15.
