People say that this causes problems for parents, teachers and children. Ritesh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy listed the reasons why people are against the change in school timings.

He said that the government should consider the vehicles that enter the city early in the morning when they get stuck in the traffic during the school term. Other suggestions include pooling resources and providing BMTC buses to schools not served by private buses. This will help reduce congestion in areas where schools are located on the same road.

Parents say this initiative will benefit us financially as private transport costs 25,000-30,000 per student annually. Many roads leading to schools and colleges have deteriorated and the speed of vehicles is decreasing, the concerned should pay attention to this, he said.

RTE Students and Parents Association B.N Yogananda said that traffic wardens should be posted in specific high density areas during morning and afternoon hours to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles.
