Karnataka: Board Exam for class 5 8 9 from this academic year

Under Section 22 of the Karnataka Education Act, 1983, the Karnataka State School Education and Literacy Department has given permission to conduct Board examinations for students of classes 5, 8, 9 and to conduct annual examinations for students of class 11.

Many changes are being made in the education system of the state. Now Karnataka State School Education Department has conducted Board examination for 5th, 8th and 9th classes. The state government has issued an official order in this regard.

Under Secretary (Adult) S. Prakash, School Education and Literacy Department has said that it is mandatory to get the government order every year for conducting the summative assessment-2 and annual examination. Last year, the government had issued an order to conduct Board examination for class 5 and 8 students in the state.

But after the opposition of the parents, the Board examination made many changes. So far, Board examination has been conducted for 5th, 8th and 9th classes. The government has issued a gazette notification for the time being. But still not release about exam format and date. A separate order in this regard is likely to be issued by the Education Department in the near future.

Board examination is currently being conducted for SSLC and Secondary PUC students in the state of Karnataka. Examinations are being held simultaneously across the state and the evaluation process is going on at the inter-district level. But now Board examination has started for primary schools as well.

Earlier Board examination was conducted for class VII students. But after a few years the Board examination was canceled. Now 5th class students have to appear for Board examination. SSLC students are already facing Board examination in high school section. But from this year students of 8th and 9th class also have to appear for the Board examination. Due to this, the burden on the teachers is sure to fall.

Recruitment of 13,352 primary school teachers:

The High Court has settled the issue regarding the recruitment of 13,352 primary school teachers in the state of Karnataka. The High Court single member bench has given green signal for the appointment of of teachers. Chief Justice P.B. Varale, the division bench headed by Justice AGS Kamal gave good news to the teachers.

The High Court directed that the recruitment should be finalized as per the selection list on March 8, 2023. Also, as per the government notification, the selection of those who have submitted the income certificate is final. There is a change of 450 candidates in the June 8, 2023 selection list.

In the new policy, replacement candidates were selected for 450 candidates. But the fate of the candidates will be decided after the order of KAT. The state government had implemented a rule that the husband’s income should also be considered while considering the order of a married woman belonging to the major backward classes.
