Cold wave alert: As per the order issued by the District Education Officer, winter vacation has been declared for all the schools in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow district till January 6.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow district, schools for students of classes 1 to 8 will remain closed till January 6 due to cold wave and dense fog conditions. The district administration in Lucknow on Tuesday announced the closure of schools for students of classes 1 to 8 till January 6.

According to an order issued by District Education Officer Ram Pravesh on the direction of the District Collector, winter vacation has been declared in all schools of Lucknow district till January 6. “In connection with the above mentioned matter, you are aware that the entire state including Lucknow district is currently undergoing cold wave and it is extremely cold.

Following the instructions issued by the District Magistrate, all children studying in school from pre-primary to 8th standard till January 6, 2024. You are ordered to ensure leave,” the order said.”If classes of classes 9 to 12 are conducted, their timings should be kept from 10:00 am to 03:00 pm only,” the district education officer told in the order.

“Strict compliance with the above shall be ensured. According to the order, strict action will be taken against any school that does not follow the above rules. Last week, the Varanasi district administration had announced closure of schools for students of classes 1 to 8 till January 6 due to cold wave conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert on Tuesday, forecasting cold day conditions in parts of Uttar Pradesh. Yellow alert has also been issued in many other areas. The weather department has issued a warning in some parts of the state till January 5.
