CBSE Class 12 board exams cancelled: decision taken in interest of students says PM Modi

New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the CBSE class 12 exams stand cancelled, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced after chairing a meeting on Class 12 board exams today evening. The meeting was chaired by PM and attended by the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar and Union Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh.

“Government of India has decided to cancel the Class XII CBSE Board Exams. After extensive consultations, we have taken a decision that is student-friendly, one that safeguards the health as well as future of our youth,” said PM. Now, the CBSE and CISCE will be releasing the criteria for assessment. The government said that it will be a “well-defined”, “objective” method that will ensure timely results.

Recently, CISCE and CBSE schools were asked to submit data of class 12 students’ performance in classes 11, 10, and 9. It is expected that the final class 12 marks could be calculated on the basis of performance in internals and past three-year performance.
