Udupi College Toilet Video Case: National Commission for Women (NCW) member Khushbu Sundar visited the college where the alleged video shooting incident on a mobile phone in the washroom took place.

National Commission for Women (NCW) member Khushbu along with Udupi police superintendent Akshay Hakay Machhindra and other officials of the commission visited the college campus on Thursday July 27 to take note of the incident. She will hold a meeting with the college administration, victim and the culprit students too.

College director Rashmi, academic co-ordinator Balakrishna, principal Rajeep Mondal, district legal service authority advocate Mary Shrestha, and others were present. Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya also arrived to the college.

She visited Udupi on Wednesday,July 26 to delve into the controversial video shooting of a girl of one community in the wash room of the college by three three classmates of different community.

Addressing the media after a comprehensive meeting with district commissioner Vidyakumari, ADC Veena, and Police Superintendent Akshay Machindra, Khushboo Sunder, Kushboo Sunder revealed that despite extensive efforts, no concrete evidence has been found yet, and investigations are ongoing.

She said, “There is a lot of investigation we have to go through. We have not found any evidence yet. Police haven’t found anything yet either. Nobody has seen any evidence. We are visiting the college tomorrow. There are many fake videos making rounds, but none of them are true. No video has been found so far.

The police have sent the three mobile phones for data retrieval and have investigated for 40 hours, but they haven’t found anything yet. Sending the devices to the forensic department is necessary, and this will take time. Until we find concrete evidence, we will not be able to file a chargesheet.

We need to refrain from jumping to conclusions. Let us conduct our investigation without acting as judges. The NCW and the police are diligently doing their job. The NCW is committed to protecting women and does not work with any communal angle in mind. Our focus is on protecting women, irrespective of their community. We urge people to avoid giving this incident a communal angle.”
