A Jain seer, who went missing on Wednesday from his ashram in a village in Belagavi’s Chikodi taluk, was allegedly murdered, police said on Saturday. Two people have been arrested in connection with the case. Acharya Sri Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj was staying at Nandi Parvata Jain Basadi for the past 15 years, they said. The seer’s devotees lodged a missing complaint with the police on Thursday.

The assassins brutally murdered Swamiji and dismembered his body. The killers, who have split the head, have also cut off two hands and two legs. The killers who cut the thigh into two parts also cut the stomach and showed cruelty.

Later, they threw the pieces of the body into a 400 feet deep bore well in the field of Katakabavi village of Raibag taluk. A bloody saree and towel were found at the depth of 25 feet of the bore well. Later, 9 pieces of the body were found at a depth of 30 feet. Preparations are being made to send the body parts to Belgaum District Hospital for post-mortem examination.
