IPL betting racket in Karnataka: Police seized Rs 78 lakh and arrested 27 people

Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) has busted an Indian Premier League (IPL) gambling racket. In the meantime, he arrested 27 people in connection with betting. Police have seized Rs 78 lakh and registered a total of 20 cases in connection with the recently terminated IPL matches.

The 13th season of IPL began on September 19, and with this, the betting market also witnessed a complete stir. With the introduction of IPL in Dubai, the speculative market had become active. Several cases of betting came to light during the IPL.

The Central Crime Branch team arrested 27 people in Bengaluru for betting. Mobile phones and cash worth lakhs of rupees were seized from all of them. The Central Crime Branch has arrested 5 accused from the Banaswadi area of Bengaluru and 1 from Malleswaram for betting on September 23.

Mobile phones and Rs 6 lakh cash have been recovered from their possession. Earlier on September 21, police in Jaunpur district had also arrested two persons who had bet online on an IPL match near Raja Saheb Pokhare. Nine mobile phones, two registers and money were recovered from them.
